Different universities such as WPI and University of Waterloo have incorporated projects in their freshman curriculum to engage the students interest in the field of Robotics and Mechatronics.

- What are the essential components of such a project?

- Is anyone familiar with the success rate/statistics of implementing such projects?

- Does anyone else have examples of such projects in their program?

The best major for an entrepreneur as been said by Donald Trump in his books are accounting and law. However, he doesn't encourage all of us Celebrity Leather to be CPA Lawyers but to be street smart.

Hello Nima

I am a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Stony Brook University. I have created a class called Freshman Design Innovation wherein freshman students learn STEM concepts in the context of robot design. I have also developed a robot kit called SnappyXO Design (www.snappyxo.com) and a motion design app called MotionGen (motiongen.io) used by students in my class.

Here is my robot design project website:

You can see an example of students' projects at

Please let me know if you have any questions.
