Using Bump Keys to Close Locks
The mechanical opening technique with bump keys is only applicable to pin tumbler locks, while other types, such as disc-detainer locks, are not affected by this method. Specialized pin locks are usually designed to prevent the use of bump keys.

If a bump key is used on these locks, the turning mechanism may lock the door, preventing further turning or removal of the key. For other types of locks, the pins need to be brought to the correct height and turned at a specific angle for the lock to open.
