I’m at my wit's end and hoping someone here has been through this. For the last few weeks, I’ve been getting constant calls from a company called Professional Debt Mediation (PDM). At first, I thought "mediation" meant they were neutral, but they are anything but. The calls are relentless, sometimes before 8 a.m., and the person on the line uses a really aggressive, threatening tone – talking about lawsuits and wage garnishment if I don't pay immediately.
What’s worse, I’m not even 100% sure the debt is mine or accurate. I asked them to send me something in writing to prove it, but they just keep calling, and I haven’t received any official letter. I told them not to call me at work, but they did it anyway yesterday, which made it really awkward.
I feel like I’m being bullied and I don’t know my rights. Has anyone dealt with this specific company? How did you get them to stop? I found this article that breaks down what they’re doing might actually be illegal, but I’m scared to make them angry. Any advice on the first step to take would be a huge help.
