The Department of Automotive, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering invites applications, from qualified individuals, for two tenure-track or tenured positions at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Mechatronics Engineering, with preferred research expertise in one of the following areas: sensor and embedded systems; autonomous systems with a focus on autonomous vehicles; artificial intelligence with applications in mechatronic systems; or collaborative robotics. These positions are subject to budgetary approval and would start on July 1, 2018, or as soon as they are filled.
The successful candidates will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. UOIT is a technology-enhanced learning environment and seeks faculty members who strive to explore and develop new pedagogies by integrating technology into the curriculum. Applicants will possess a Ph.D. in the area of Mechatronics Engineering or a related field; a strong academic background; an established record of excellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications; and be registered, or eligible and committed to registration, as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. A commitment to supporting student success has been demonstrated through outstanding contributions to teaching, training and mentorship, as well as institutional service. In addition, qualified candidates will possess excellent communication skills demonstrated through a track record of collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large and a commitment to promoting a respectful work and learning environment.
The successful candidates will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.
